Recycling is good for the environment and saves us money too. The city charges us for each of the garbage bins we require but there is no charge for the recycling bins. So the more we recycle, the less garbage bins we need, and our costs go down. Good deal!

The City of Toronto has increased garbage pick-up fees for condos. Under the new city rates, our pick-up fee jumps from under $4,000 in 2008 to almost $42,000 in 2009. Pick-up of recycling is free. It is important to note that this projection will be much less in future budgets if we all reduce, reuse and recycle. The Board is committed to encouraging a recycling and waste management program to divert waste from expensive garbage pick-up to free recycling pick-up.
